George Washington the Dancer

George Washington was an avid dancer who used to dance as a means of celebration and to elevate his social and political status. Dancing was an essential part of Colonial social and political activities, from the elite balls of the wealthy gentry officers to the rambunctious camp dances of the army volunteers.
